Four Ways I Read For Free — and One Way I Get Paid For it
It seems every woman in her mid-30s online is entering her “reading era” and I am proudly one of them. Here are 4 ways I’ve discovered to read for free and one way I’ve found that you can even get paid to read!
BorrowBox
BorrowBox is a free library app available where I am based, in Ireland. Other library apps do the same thing for international markets, such as Libby.
The way BorrowBox works is that you select your local library and sign up, for free, via the app. You are then issued a library number, and can immediately start using the app. Here in Ireland, you do have to collect your library card and verify your account to continue using the app, but once you’ve collected your card the only limit to what you can read for free is what your local library has available — and you can even request them to get in books they are missing. Not only that, but through BorrowBox you can get e-books, audiobooks and even newspapers and magazines. All you have to do are reserve them and you’ll get a notification when they are available to “borrow”.
